Nancy Bacon
Nancy Bacon is a nonprofit educator with over 25 years of experience in helping nonprofit leaders serve their communities with joy, confidence and results. Nancy began her career in international education and worked for 10 years growing a grassroots nonprofit working alongside a community of Afro-Brazilian women in Salvador, Brazil. Nancy has worn nearly every nonprofit hat possible: Executive Director, board member, board chair, program director, and volunteer. She currently co-hosts the Nonprofit Radio Show podcast to ensure small and rural nonprofits have access to high-quality nonprofit learning. Nancy received a B.A. in economics and German literature from Swarthmore College and a master in public policy and governance from the University of Washington.
Scott Ferguson, Ed.D.
Scott Ferguson, Ed.D., has over 17 years of experience in both higher education and community advocacy, where he has been instrumental in cultivating initiatives that promote vibrant and engaged communities. His leadership and commitment to community engagement were recognized in 2020 when his initiatives earned the Carnegie Classification for Community Engagement. Scott earned his undergraduate degree from Warner Pacific University, his master’s degree from Portland State University and an Ed.D. in educational leadership and policy from Concordia University-Portland. Scott has significantly contributed to various organizations across the Pacific Northwest via professional roles as a nonprofit executive director, director of community engagement and higher education administrator.Â

Class Format
Online content.
1Â weekly class via Zoom, Mondays, 4-5:30 p.m. (Pacific Time).
Requirements
2-3 hours of coursework per week.
1 assignment due each week.
Attend 5 of the 6 classes in each of the three 6-week modules.
